Adam was born in the UK in Hertfordshire, December 1989. At the time of writing, he is 11 years old! His parents noticed how bright he was at a very early age. For instance, he could say his alphabet at 18 months and read as fluently as an adult when he was very young. Having learnt the basics of maths such as fractions, percentages, long multiplication, division and the like at about 6, he moved on to a intermediate GCSE maths book in early 1998 studying in his own time. His parents arranged a tutor for him, visiting 1 hour every week, who soon said that Adam was easily capable of Higher Tier GCSE Maths! In the October of that year, he began educating himself from a Higher Tier book. Eight months later in the June of 1999, at nine years of age, Adam took his Higher Tier GCSE maths exam at a high school in Norfolk and passed with an A grade! Since he had not studied in a school environment, he had to take a third coursework paper, that he was a little unsure on. This was the only thing that kept him from A*, as his actual maths papers were marked at 77% and 90% respectively!

In September of that same year, with encouragement from his Mum and Dad, Adam (age 9!) was accepted at a college in Luton, Beds, to study A level maths in an intensive "1 year" course. Nine months later, in the June of 2000, he took his final exams and passed with a grade B, a most acceptable grade for A level, particularly over a year course! In doing so, Adam, who was 10 at the time, became what is believed to be the second youngest in the world to have ever passed A level maths according to national newspaper reports at the time.

Adams outstanding academic ability is not only in mathematics, he is currently studying for his GCSE's in English, English literature, Science, Geography, French and Design and Technology/Business Studies, at a high school in Bedfordshire. He will take these in the month of June this year (2001). He says he is particularly interested in Science although he enjoys acting and may look at Drama in the future. In his spare time he plays PC games, tells jokes, teaches himself C++ programming and writes the GCSE Maths Buster web pages! He does have a little help from his Dad, who admits that he needs to study the site himself!

Adam does

Adam is very pleased with his results and will carry on Biology, Chemistry and French to full A-Levels while keeping his respectable pass in Physics at AS for now. Adam hopes to achieve next year 2 A's and a B in these subjects and add this to his B grade already held in Maths which he hopes will gain him entry to the university of his choice... at the age of 13!
Adam retook his French in January 2003 and passed with a very good B grade putting him on target for the minimum grade B score he wishes to achieve in French A-Level in June of 2003.
Adam scoops three top-grade A-levels but will the UK hinder him from studying for his degree?

Adam is very pleased to have completed his A-levels now with the top grades that he has achieved. It is interesting however that in both Biology and Chemistry, 480 marks out of 600 were needed to get an A grade, but Adam was only awarded 478 in Biology (2 marks out of 600 away from an A grade) and 475 in Chemistry (5 marks out of 600 away from an A grade). These are so close to being an A grade that there is a possibility that he may look at having these remarked. In the meantime however he will obviously keep his top result B grades. Despite now being fully qualified to study for his degree, Adam has had the door slammed shut in his face by UK universities, leaving him standing, holding a string of qualifications normally only held by those five years his senior, a disgraceful move and very bad reflection on the UK educational system which will leave further up and coming young child geniuses such as Adam wondering whether it really is all worth their while.
