Hi Folks, and welcome
to this first page of the
Web Site! In this lesson you are going to learn about some basic arithmetic,
so I am going to assume that you know absolutely nothing about GCSE Maths
(so choose a different subject if you already know these basics). Right. First
let’s have a look at the different types of numbers available.
Counting numbers or natural numbers are the basic 1,2,3,4 etc. (I can count!) stuff.
Whole numbers are numbers that don’t include a decimal point .
Positive numbers are numbers that are bigger than 0 and sometimes have a + sign on them. That was hard!
Negative numbers are less than 0 and always, always have a – sign. Even harder!
Integers (phew!) are whole
numbers, but
, ‘cause
they include negative ones.
Directed numbers have a + or a – sign on them.
